Letter Regarding Home Learning Activities
I will be updating the 'Purple Mash' 2Dos every day. So that the 2Do list does not become too long, I will be expiring old 2dos on Sunday evenings. I have made sure that almost every area of the curriculum is covered through 'Purple Mash'. There will be daily Reading activities; daily Phonics activities; daily Math activities and daily Geography activities. Every week, there will be 2 History activities; 2 RE activities; 2 Computing activities; 1 PSHE activity and 1 Art/Design activity. There will be plenty of opportunities for writing through the PSHE, RE, History and Geography activities.
Please do not feel that your child has to complete every activity. The 2Dos have been provided to allow you a choice of what to teach your child. Some activities will be fine for your child to complete independently but some activities will require support for your child. I will be regularly monitoring children's 'Purple Mash' activities; writing comments and giving rewards. When some activities are completed, they need to be 'handed in'. Sometimes I will set a 're do' which is when a child needs to add something to their work or try an activity again. When I set a 're do', I will write a comment explaining what needs to be done.
At the top of the 'Purple Mash' homepage you will see the dark green 'Sharing' tab. In this section is the 'Year One' display board. I have posted and will continue to post creative Art/Design work and impressive Geography/History/RE/PSHE work.
I will be updating the 'My Maths' tasks every day. So that the task list does not become too long, I will be expiring old task on Sunday evenings. I will be reviewing children's scores and writing positive comments too.
Year One children can practise their times tables using ‘Times Tables Rockstars’. They have a log in but they have not used it in class yet. Therefore, they may need some help from a parent/carer to initially navigate the website.
As we progress through Term 5, I will be adding daily activities for you to print if you wish to (see 'Home Learning' page). I also would like to upload pictures of learning activities that Year One children have been doing during Term 5. I will upload these pictures on the 'Term 5' section of the 'Year 1' class page.
I understand that some of you may not have a printer at home. If this is the case, then I am happy to print resources, when I am in school, for you to pick up. You are always welcome to email me via the form at the bottom of the 'Year 1' class page. I will try to respond to your email as quickly as possible.
Please continue to read with your child on a daily basis. This could include reading their own books or being read to by an adult. Thank you for all of your help, patience and understanding through this difficult period.
Please use this form to contact the class teacher if you have any problems or need to ask a question about your child’s education or welfare. We will do our best to respond as soon as is possible.
