Prophets

LO: To begin to ask and answer questions about prophets and teachings in Judaism and Christianity

 

SC:

 

To retell the events of the book of Exodus.

To retell the stories of prophets.

To make links between the teachings of the prophets and the Christian Bible.

To begin to ask and answer questions about how Jewish life is affected by faith and how some questions are difficult to answer.

 

Vocabulary

Prophet, Hebrew, Passover, Abraham, Moses, Chanah, Samuel, David, Elijah.

We watched video clips about Judaism and made created mind maps in our books about what we learned.

We recapped the story of the Exodus, remembering Moses leading the Israelites from slavery in Egypt and God bestowing upon Moses the 10 commandments. We competed against each other in groups, building parts of the story from jigsaw pieces.

We remembered the story by singing the song, Go Down Moses.

In groups, we explored items and symbols important to Judaism. I made comparisons to items and symbols used within Christianity. We learned about Jewish life and how it was similar and different to our own. We thought of questions we would like answered to learn more about Jewish life.

We sang a traditional song Shalom Chaverim

We practised writing the names of some of the prophets in Hebrew.

We learned about some of the prophets of Judaism, learning about their story and what messages they had to share. We retold their stories and created artwork to represent the prophets. We made links between the prophets and the ancestors of Jesus.
