Term 1
English
As our history project this term is based on Stone Age, we will be experiencing a day in the Stone Age and writing newspaper reports alongside this. Later in the term we will be reading 'Stone Age Boy' and basing our writing on this text We will be exploring the features of narrative writing and instructional writing with specific skills identified. As part of National Poetry day we will also be spending some time looking at some fantastic poems and creating some of our own.
Maths
Our first topic in Maths this year is Place Value up to 1000. We are starting off the term by building our understanding of number representation and how the same number can be built by using different amounts. This will lead onto counting in 100s, 50s and creating opportunities to learn to count in multiples of 3. Towards the end of the term we will begin looking at the column method for addition and subtraction.
Project (History)
This term, our project title is 'What was new about the New Stone Age?' This is a great project, and gives us the opportunity to begin developing our knowledge of history for us in Britain. We will be connecting our learning with our class texts. In Art, we will be using a variety of drawing equipment to create our own cave paintings, make our own Stone Age shelters and make Stone Age paint.
RE
This term, our first RE topic is Domestic Church and Family where we will be exploring how God is present in every home. This is expressed in the love that binds the family together within the home through good times and bad times.
Scripture: John 13: 34 ‘And now I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. If you have love for one another, then everyone will know that you are my disciples.’ |
