World Book Week 2025
What an amazing World Book Week we have had this year! It has been a true celebration of loving reading and books in all forms - thank you to all the children and families for making it so special. Here are some photos of our favourite parts of the week.
Emma Rosen Author Visit - Monday 3rd March
Local author, Emma Rosen, came to school for a day of creative writing and storytelling. She writes stories inspired by the sea, so we got to look at lots of sea-related objects like kelp, sea shells and interesting stones. Years R,1 & 2 did storytelling workshops, Years 3 & 4 did a creative writing workshop and Years 5 & 6 did an editing workshop - learning about the processes real authors go through to get their work published.
Booky Bedtime
Booky Bedtime was back and bigger and better than ever! This year, over 85 children came back to school for hot chocolate and a bedtime story in their pyjamas! We had pirate stories, knight stories, unicorn stories and dragon stories - and even some particularly funny ones about bottoms! Everyone had lots of fun and it was amazing to have so many children (and parents) attend!
Story Jar Competition
Our story jar competition this year had lots of fantastic entries - well done to everyone who took part. It was incredibly hard to choose winners, but Mrs Huotari and Mrs Jukes helped by looking carefully at all the jars and selecting the winning entries.
In year R and 1, our winner was Tyra - with Sofia and Natan as close runners up.
In years 2 and 3, our winner was Verity with her Magic Faraway Tree. Sophia and Orla were our runners up.
In years 4,5 and 6, our winner was Hugo - with Aksara and Noa as runners up.
Our overall winner was Georgia from Year 5 with her incredible 'Stick Man' story jar.
