Lighthouse Class

Islam Day in Lighthouse Class

On Tuesday 27th June, the whole school was learning about the world faith Islam. In Lighthouse Class, our learning focused around Islam's holy book, the Qur'an. We watched a video of some Muslim children explaining how they read and learn the Qur'an. We found out some important things:

  • The Qur'an is a holy book, and to show respect, it must never be put on the floor.
  • The Qur'an is the opposite way round to books we are used to - it starts at the back!
  • The Qur'an is written in Arabic but you can get English translations.
  • Muslims learn parts of the Qur'an off by heart.
  • The Qur'an teaches Muslims how to live good lives, just like the Bible teaches us how to live good lives.

We got to look at a copy of the Qur'an and also at a prayer mat.

As we found out that the Qur'an teaches Muslims how to live a good life, we decided to make our own books with reminders about how we can live a good life. Have a look at what we made below!
