At St. Richard’s, our History curriculum is designed to interweave closely with our Geography and Science curriculum, developing skills in question, retrieving and interpreting information and making informed opinions to ensure that our learning is most effective. We know that understanding the past is vital to paving the way for the future and our enriching curriculum is designed to provide a wide, multi-cultural approach to History.
We want our children to be curious of the world around them, exploring the past – both British history and the wider world – embracing the lessons learned by historians from studying what has come before. We intend for our children to gain a deepening understanding of history. We want them to be able to place events chronologically, using a wide range of evidence and sources available to understand the context and reflectively interpret these events and the impact they had on our world.
