Term 2

Victorians: What was it like to be a child in Victorian Britain?

This term, we will be studying the Victorians. We will be studying what life was like for Victorian children; their role within society, what schools were like and how charities sought to improve the lives of Britain's poorest children. We will also be looking at Queen Victoria and the worldwide impact of the British Empire and the Industrial Revolution.

In English, we will be reading Street Child by Berlie Doherty and A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. These will serve as inspiration for a diary, a biography and a fictional newspaper report.

In Maths, we will be learning about multiplication/division and fractions.

In Religious Education, we are learning about our Local Church/Community and Advent. We will also be learning about Hinduism as part of our ongoing learning about world faiths.
