Islam Day - Year 4 - 2023
In Year 4, we focused on learning about Mosques, the Islamic place of worship.
We looked at the different parts of the mosque and how they differ from Catholic churches. We all created a labelled diagram to show off our knowledge of the different features of a mosque.
A difference that we noted is that Muslims do not have images of their God, prophets or any living thing on show in a mosque. We looked instead at the intricate tile designs found commonly in mosques and created our own geometric designs, inspired by the art we could see.
We looked at Islam as a whole and learned some of their core beliefs. We worked together to research the five pillars of Islam and created a special page in our shared RE book all about our learning.
