Friday

Happy Friday Year 6! We've finished week 4 - well done everyone! I hope you all have a super weekend. Make sure you relax and get lots of rest... let's hope the sun is shining for us all.

Today's timetable looks like this:

These are suggested times (apart from the Zoom lessons), so fit your learning in when works best for you and your family.

English

Something a bit different today Year 6. We've finished reading our amazing text, The Viewer, so we're going to have a look at a BBC lesson all about discussing what we have read.

Learning focus

To share our thoughts and feelings about a book and give reasons for our opinions.

This lesson includes:

  • two videos to help us discuss what you read

  • three activities, plus an extra challenge

Work your way through the information and videos on the web page and then have a go at the activities:

Activity 1

Read the extract from Tower of Terror. When you have read the extract, think about this question:

What do you think about the characters?

Write a couple of lines giving your opinion about each character. Describe the character and give your reasons for thinking the way you do.

Activity 2

Two of the themes in Tower of Terror are friendship and loneliness.

Hidden in the extract are words that hint at these themes. Copy out the table and add in any more words you spot that hint at these two themes.

Activity 3

In her video clip about Lizzy Zipmouth, Nina Wadia describes the effect the book had on her. She explains how the story made her feel and gives reasons to back up what she says.

How did reading the extract from Tower of Terror make you feel?

Write a short paragraph describing the effect it had on you.

Maths

Write today's short date (29/01) in your home learning book and have a go at these arithmetic questions:

Watch the White Rose video - you can pause it as you are watching to have a go at joining in with the activities. When you get to the end, have a go at the work in your home learning book. You will need to have the worksheet open on a device in front of you and then do your working out and answering in the book. Once you have completed the task, you can use the answer sheet to mark your work before an adult emails me a picture of it. Good luck - and remember to email me if you have any questions.

Spr6.1.5 - Divide by 10 100 and 1000

Reading

Log on to LBQ and have a go at the comprehension exercise. The code today is:

Remember to use your full name (including surname) and your own chosen passcode to log in.

Afternoon lesson - PE

Normally you would be at school doing your PE lesson with DSC, so Danny has recorded you another PE challenge to have a go at. If your PE doesn't take you very long - you can log on to either EDshed or TTRS and play some games.
