Term 1

Welcome to Year 2!

I'm very excited to be teaching Year 2 this year and can't wait to learn all about the Great Fire of London this term. Keep an eye out for any letters or resources being added to the page as well as photos and videos of some of the amazing work we do this term.

Mrs Bennett

Look at our amazing homework models. I am so proud of the effort the children have made with these. Well Done!!

On Monday 7th October, Dover Fire and Rescue came to school to show us their fire engine. We were allowed to climb inside and they answered lots of questions. They then let us use the hose to try and hit a traffic cone. Mr Blomfield pulled up in his car but we didn’t spray him!

On Tuesday 8th October, Pete from Forest School helped us to burn some model houses. He stacked them close together to show how close all the houses were in 1666. We saw how quickly the fire spread and how quickly London would have burned. We felt the heat coming off our small fire and thought about how hot it would have been with hundreds of houses all burning together.
