Learning Objective: To be able to use verbs.
Today we are writing about the crow going off on his journey.

golden leaves, orange leaves, crisp leaves, fallen leaves...
flew, swooped, soared, glided, whizzed, fluttered, drifted...
Here is my sentence: He swooped along the golden path of leaves when it was autumn.
Sentence 2 - This is going to be about the winter.
Gather words to describe the winter - frozen, freezing, icy, chilly, sparkling ice...
Here is my sentence: He whizzed over the frozen river when it was winter.
Sentence 3 - This final sentence is going to be about the summer.
Gather words to describe the summer - vibrant green, warm, shimmering sunshine...
Here is my sentence: He soared by the vibrant green meadows when it was summer.

This term our science topic is Living things and their habitats.
Today we are learning
To know all living things do certain things to stay alive.
Activity – Let’s recap our learning from last week
· Watch this short video.
Characteristics of living things - KS1 Science - BBC Bitesize
All living things do certain things to stay alive. These are called life processes.
· All living things move and grow!
Moving and growing (clip compilation) - KS1 Science - BBC Bitesize
There are 7 live processes
MRS GREN can help us to remember them.
Animals use their senses to tell them about their surroundings.
The five senses - KS1 Science - BBC Bitesize
Plants are also sensitive to their surroundings.
Plants are sensitive to sunlight and temperature.
Some special plants like the Venus Flytrap are sensitive to touch.

ACTIVITY What is your favourite animal?
· Draw a picture and write three sentences to explain how you know it is living.
(Use MRS GREN to help you remember the life processes)
Extension: Use a secondary source, a book or the internet, to research an amazing fact!
Example:
The bat can fly and respire using its lungs. It gets its nutrition from insects. Bats have excellent hearing.
