9:00 - 9:30 - Phonics - 'gn'

Look through the PPT and listen to the flashcard video. There aren't many words that have the silent 'g' but there are a couple that we use like 'sign'.

There is also a short Shakespeare video to watch. He says the 'g' sound. Does it sound right??

There is a worksheet but it is really for when you collect different words from around the classroom. You can fill in the 'gn' words on it or just write them in your books and then see if you can use any of the words in a sentence.

10:00 - 10:30 - English  -Writing

Today we are going to be starting a new text. We are moving from an adventure narrative to a fable. Our new text is called 'A Crow's Tale'.

To start our text we are going to have a look at a range of forest and woodland scenes in the snow. We are going to look at how different creatures live in the woodland and think about how their natural features that help them survive, what is the temperature like in snowy conditions and how creatures might keep warm.

Discuss the temperatures in snowy conditions and consider a range of ways the creatures might keep warm.

You could draw and label some different pictures of the animals to help you remember your research.

Think about these questions whilst you are watching.

• What the priest or deacon does and says
• What the altar servers do
• What the people do and say
• How the Book of the Gospels is treated.

Activity: Make a prayer card.

(a) On it write one thing you want to remember from the reading you heard from the Gospel.

(b) Underneath it, write what you say at the end of the Gospel reading at Mass.
