As we get ready for World Book Day, for English today I'd like you to watch today's live lesson - Books that make you LOL! You'll need to click on the link below and be ready for the live streaming to start at 10:30am.
Today, I would like you to have a go at being creative. We are finishing reading our class story - The Boy at the Back of the Class - and I have really enjoyed it. It's a very powerful story that I think will really stay with me.
I would like you to design an alternative front cover for this book. Think about:
- what key events happen in the book
- which characters you really liked - and disliked
- where the action in the story takes place
- the message that the book is trying to share
You can be as creative as you like - use paints, colouring pencils - make it beautiful! And don't forget to take a picture and send it to me!

Afternoon lesson - Science
Our science topic this term is Animals including Humans.
The main focus of this topic will be the human circulatory system - including the heart, blood vessels and blood. Today we will be finding out more about the double circulation in our bodies.
- Why is it necessary for the blood to be taken to the lungs?
This is where the blood collects the oxygen that is needed for all parts of the body. The oxygen is exchanged for waste carbon dioxide that leaves our body when we breathe out. This is one of the seven life processes common to all animals (& plants) and is called respiration.
- Why is it necessary for the blood to be taken to the rest of the body?
Blood transports nutrients, water & oxygen to the cells/organs to enable them to work properly & transports waste materials away from the cells. Hormones (chemical messengers) are also carried by the circulatory system, so it is a major transport system!

Today we will be learning more about a scientist called William Harvey. The British doctor William Harvey first described an understanding of the way the heart works with the double circulation of blood in the 17th century. William Harvey was born in Folkestone!

Create a second Top Trumps card about the scientist whose ideas about the circulatory system came before William Harvey's - Galen. You will need to do some research about him, to find out key facts about his discoveries and theories. You can use the same categories from the William Harvey card - and then you will have two cards to compare.
