Thursday 4th

It's Thursday!

It has been lovely to see some of you from a distance this week! heart

Please remember to pick up your Home Learning Supply Packs by 3 pm tomorrow so that we can start using them in lessons on Monday (8th Feb).

Today's tasks are outlined below. Please contact me anytime if you need any help or support!

Our zoom link has been emailed to you on Sunday evening.

See you at 9am and 1:45pm today :)

REMINDER: Celebration Assembly has been canceled this week! Certificates for the Star's of the Week will be given during our usual afternoon Zoom.

Phonics:

Recapping letter sounds: Please recap your letter sounds and actions every day.

You can use the videos below to help you.

Monster Phonics Pure Speech Sounds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRoFpvC0yn0

Phase 2 Tricky Word Song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvMyssfAUx0&list=PLCLKSf1kRDSRP6OCf-lm0wAr2s7Y1LfkO

Daily Zoom session: Our sound this week is 'ai'. This is an Angry Red A sound.

We will revise the key sentences in Monster Phonics' Hansel and Gretel story. We will then write a sentence together using some ai words: 'Train on a rail.'

Follow up activity: Play Grab a Giggling Grapheme on Phonics Play. Choose ‘all phase 2’.

Writing:

Write the sentence above 'Train on a rail' in your exercise book and draw a train on a rail to accompany it. Make your drawing nice and colourful.

Extra challenge: Label your drawing, sound out the words, and using your sound mat to help you. Where is the train? Where is the rail? Did you draw a tree in your picture? Can you label that too?

Grown-ups: please ensure a level of independence with this activity. Let your child use their Phase 2 and 3 sound mat to help them find the right sounds for each word. You can help them by repeating the sentence and saying each word very slowly and stretched out so they can hear and separate each sound (segmenting). Please do not have them copy the sentence or give them the letters they need before they have a try themselves. Learning is all about giving things a go by yourself first! If you find they need extra support, then you can guide them accordingly.

Handwriting: Today we will be practicing the curly caterpillar letter: s

Hand warm-up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6kPcQSSsEY

Practice writing the letter in cursive at the back of your exercise book 5-10 times. Please date it!

Please have this ready to show Miss Hunt during our 1:45 Zoom call; I can't wait to see it!laugh
