Good Morning
I hope you have a wonderful day. If you need anything, just let me know.
Have a good day

9:00 - 9:30 - Phonics - 'e' green froggy
Look at the PPT. Today we are looking at the 'e' grapheme. This is in many common words. The CEWs ‘he’, ‘me’, ‘we’, ‘be’ and ‘she’ have an open long E vowel. Read the words on the PowerPoint. Read the common words that have this grapheme in the PowerPoint.
Now look at the flashcards video and count how many phonemes are in each word.
Watch the ‘Deep Beneath the Sea’ song. Make the Green Froggy (index finger and thumb making a smiley face) action each time you hear an e word. Can they recall all of the e words in the video?
Look at the he, me, she, we worksheet and draw pictures for each of the 'e' words. Label them - can you use a green to colour code the 'e' sound?
9:30 - 9:50 - Morning Registration
9:50 - 10:30 - English - Writing
Learning Objective: To be able to use adverbial phrases and conjunctions.
Given sentence: Plop snuggled beneath his Mum's wing and drifted off to sleep.
We are now writing about the next day.
Sentence 1 - an adverbial sentence to describe the next evening.
Gather ideas what happens when dusk turns to dark (watch timelapse video to help)
sun setting, moon appears, starts sparkle, stars sprinkle their light, animals begin to hunt...
Here is my sentence: The next evening, as the stars began to sparkle, Plop heard a shout.
Sentence 2 - some dialogue between Plop and the new boy telling him about campfires.
The types of questions Plop might ask - What, why, are you, how?...
Gather some adjectives to describe the campfire - warm, cosy, crackling, beautiful
Here is my dialogue: "How do you feel about the dark?" asked Plop as he swooped down next to a boy.
"The dark is fun because I can drink hot chocolate around this cosy campfire," replied the boy.
Sentence 3 - a compound sentence (joining two ideas) using the conjunctions 'but' or 'so'.
Gather words to describe how Plop is feeling: worried, unsure, nervous, apprehensive, anxious, intrigued, interested, curious, fascinated....
Here is my sentence: Plop was nervous but he decided to stay.
I hope the video and this all makes sense.
10:45 - 11:15 - English - Reading
Learning Objective: To be able to predict what might happen next based on what I have read already.
Listen to the next part of the story, look at the vocabulary on the PPT and then use the worksheet to answer the questions. Draw what you think they might find on their travels and draw what you think might happen at the end of the story.
11:15 - 12:15 - Maths - 2 times-table
Learning Objective: To be able to recall the 2 times-table.
Here are a few different worksheets you could use (you can just answer in your books) or you could create your own 2x game. It could be a snakes and ladders type game or a board game where you go around the board.
1:20 - 2:15 - Art
Learning Objective: To be able to use a range of techniques and resources.
This afternoon I would like you to create a piece of art using leaves gathered from outside. Go for a walk and find as many different coloured/types of leaves as you can. We are in winter so there should be lots of brown and yellow leaves that fell from the trees during autumn. I would like you to use these leaves to make an animal picture. We were thinking yesterday about how the different seasons affect different animals so you could even try and create an animal from yesterday like a robin.
Look through the PPT below.
There are some worksheets which have templates as a guide and some photos for ideas but you can make whatever animal you like.
I can't wait to see them.
2:15 - 2:45 - Afternoon registration and story
2:45 - 3:00 - Handwriting
The letter 'a'.
Watch the video below and practise writing a cursive 'a'.
