Term 6 - What is it like to live in Australia?
Our Topic for this term is Australia! We shall be comparing and contrasting living in the UK and Australia, and will be learning lots of amazing facts about Australia! We shall be looking at the seasons, cities, human and physical features, as well as learning about aboriginal culture.
In RE, our topics this term are:
- Reconciliation - Rules and Relationships with friends
- Journey in Love - Friendships
- Treasure - God's Treasures of the world
In Maths, our learning this term focuses on Time, Statistics and Position and Direction. Children will be exploring how to tell the time to 5 minutes, using past and to, as well as recognising O'Clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to. In statistics, children will learn how to read tally charts, pictographs and other charts. for Position and Direction, children will be learning about the cardinal directions, and learn about the different language we use to describe position.
In Science, we are learning about plants and how they grow! We are currently growing our own tomato plants, we shall be investigating what we need to make a plant grow!
In DT/Art, we shall be exploring Aboriginal Australian art, and creating our own 'story' using aboriginal techniques. We shall also be creating our own Aboriginal masks using paper maiche!
In English, we will be writing our own 'days of dreaming' story, based on our story 'How the Kangaroos got their tails'. We shall also be writing persuasive letters to Mr Taylor, to see if we can get a school kangaroo! We will also be writing a diary entry as an Australian animal based on our book of 'The diary of a Wombat'!
