Term 5

Our topic: Trials, triumphs & tragedies

This term, our topic is History based. We will be learning all about the Ancient Greeks and trying to answer the question:

What did the Ancient Greeks do for us?

Our text this term is the amazing:

This book is a re-telling of Homer's classic text, 'The Odyssey'. It tells the story of King Odysseus and his journey home to Ithaca after the Trojan War. On this journey, him and his crew have many adventures and face many dangers. We will be reading all about them and finding out whether he ever makes it home after so long away at war.

We will be using the text to write letters, instructions and balanced arguments all about Odysseus. We will also be using it as a starting point for getting to know some of the Greek gods and understand how they interfered in the affairs of mortals...

In History, we will be exploring the legacies of Ancient Greek society and thinking about how much we owe them. We shall learn all about the Trojans and Spartans, the original Olympics, democracy and play writing.

Maths this term will be focussed on learning about statistics - exploring different types of tables, charts and graphs and extracting information from them as well as plotting that information. We shall also be re-visiting shape and practising calculating and measuring angles in 2D shapes, as well as exploring features and nets of 3D shapes.

Our RE learning this term is linked to Pentecost and Ascension, and we will be thinking about how Jesus' disciples were witnesses to his mission.
