The Vikings: Were they really as savage as people believe?

Our English text for this term: Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J.K. Rowling

This term, we are learning about the Vikings. This flows on nicely from last term, where we were learning about the Anglo Saxons. We will be looking at where the Vikings came from, where they settled and what life was like for a regular Viking family. Next term, we will be continuing our studies and looking at their religion and fighting prowess. 

We will be using Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J.K. Rowling as our text to inspire our English writing. We have lots of exciting things planned to immerse us into the wizarding world of Hogwarts... wand making, Quidditch, writing Howlers (letters of complaint), being sorted into our houses and writing non-chronological texts about our magical animal companions.
