Term 3

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas break and has come back to school ready and raring to go! A reminder of the important information for Year 6 this term:

This term, our topic is History and we will be following on our learning about World War One by trying to answer the question:

What was the impact of WWII on our locality?

Our text this term is:

The book is a brilliant account of two children's adventures in Devon after they are evacuated from London. Their older sister, Sukie, has gone missing but a mysterious note found in her coat pocket suggests she is involved in something dangerous. We shall be using the text to inspire our writing - thinking about how to use the first person voice effectively in writing diaries, narratives and letters.

In History, we will be learning all about how the end of WWI contributed to the start of WWII and how WWII had a huge impact on Dover. Our learning will explore different ways in which war affected England - and specifically Dover such as: evacuation, the Battle of Britain, Operation Dynamo (the evacuation of Dunkirk), the Home Front and the fighting in Europe.

Our Maths this term will be following on and continuing our learning about fractions, decimals and percentages.

After a busy Advent period, in RE we shall be moving on to learn about the local church, community and the Bible and how it enriches the lives of Catholics.
