Crabble Class
We watched a clip explaining key points within Hinduism. When we heard key information, we added it to our mind-map.
We discussed the Hindu place of worship (Mandir) and made comparisons to Christian churches.

We compared and contrasted worship at home for Hindus and Christians.
We learned that in Hinduism it is believed that there is one god, Brahman, and they are represented by millions of deities, specifically the Trimurti. We made links to how Christians believe God can be represented by the Holy Trinity.
We learned that it is believed that there is a spark of Brahman in everyone, just as the Holy Spirit can be a part of everyone giving them spiritual energy.
In groups, we researched some of the other deities and their qualities. We thought about which qualities we would need and who we would pray to if we were Hindu.

We compared and contrasted key parts of Hinduism: holy places of worship, holy books, and deities.
Together we shared the story Dipal’s Diwali. We recognised the goddess Lakshmi in the story from our earlier learning. The story taught us about Rangoli art and its importance during Diwali. It reminded us of our prior maths learning of symmetry.
The story reminds us of the story of Rama and Sita which we remembered learning about in a different year group. We watched a retelling of the story and learned about diyas.
We created a gallery of murtis, with our own representations of deities we researched.
We continued to explore Diwali traditions by exploring symmetry in Rangoli patterns.
To conclude our learning, we learned about traditional clothing, learning how to wear a sari and head scarf.
