See you at 9am!

Remind: Today is Wellbeing Wednesday! There is no 1:45pm zoom today.

Daily Zoom session: Our sound this week is 'ai'. This is an Angry Red A sound.

We will re-visit ‘ai’ words and pictures. Please have your ai flashcards in front of you. Find the flashcard that matches the picture that Miss Hunt holds up! Hold it up to the camera for us to see.

After this, we will be writing some ‘ai’ words together on our whiteboards/ in our exercise books.

We will revisit out tricky words for this week; you and are.

Follow up activity: Play Dragons Den blending game on Phonics Play- phase 3, + ‘ai’.

Writing:

Write the captionpat a cat

Use your sound mat to help you find the letters that match the sounds you hear.

Grown-ups: please ensure a level of independence with this activity. Let your child use their Phase 2 and 3 sound mat to help them find the right sounds for each word. You can help them by repeating the sentence and saying each word slowly so they can hear and separate each sound (segmenting). Please do not have them copy the sentence or give them the letters they need before they have a try themselves. Learning is all about giving things a go by yourself first. If you find they need extra support, then you can guide them.

Handwriting: Today we will be practicing the curly caterpillar letter: e

Hand warm-up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6kPcQSSsEY

Practice writing the letter in cursive at the back of your exercise book 5-10 times. Please date it!

Wednesday 3rd Resources:

From 1-7 February 2021 schools, youth groups, organisations and individuals across the UK will take part in Children’s Mental Health Week. This year’s theme is Express Yourself.

Expressing yourself is about finding ways to share feelings, thoughts, or ideas, through creativity. This could be through art, music, writing and poetry, dance and drama, photography and film, and doing activities that make you feel good.

It’s important to remember that being able to express yourself is not about being the best at something or putting on a performance for others. It is about finding a way to show who you are, and how you see the world, that can help you feel good about yourself.

For Children's Mental Health Week 2021 we will be encouraging children (and adults) to explore the different ways we can express ourselves, and the creative ways that we can share our feelings, our thoughts and our ideas.

Around three children in every primary school class has a mental health problem and many more struggle with challenges from bullying to bereavement. Place2Be is a children’s mental health charity that provides counseling and mental health support and training in UK schools, using tried and tested methods backed by research.
