History of St Richard's

Our school began its life as a new building for the senior school of St Ursula's Convent. The photographs above show the "Laying of the Foundation Stone Ceremony" and were taken on the 22nd June 1960, the pupils sit under the steel girders of the assembly hall.

It was not until 1968 that St Richard's evolved into a Voluntary Aided Primary Day School,  under the trusteeship of the Congregation of the Ursuline Sisters.

The tiles which you can see on the front of our building were designed by the children in 2008 to commemorate 40 years of St Richard's Primary School.
