9:00 - 9:30 - Phonics - w-ar (or)

Look through the PowerPoint and the w-ar (or) grapheme. Read the w-ar (or) words. This is not a very common grapheme.

Watch the flash cards video.

Watch the ‘Tricky Witch’s Clues’ video. Make the Tricky Witch (wave a pretend wand) action every time you hear a w-ar (or) word. Can you remember all of the w-ar (or) words in the song?

Look at the activity. Write a set of clues using w-ar (or) words. Play the game with someone. One player hides an X under the picture and the other players have to guess where. Use the clues like ‘getting warmer’ to help them.

To start our new writing topic, you are going to spend our English time today exploring London and getting to know all about Buckingham Palace. 

Look through the PPT, watch the different videos and research Buckingham Palace. What is it like? Who lives there? What do you think it would like to live there? 

Create a poster all about Buckingham Palace.
