Friday

Wow! 8 long weeks of remote learning and we've got to the last day. I know lots of you may be really excited about coming back to school on Monday, and some of you may be feeling worried because it's been such a long time.

However you are feeling Year 6, know that Miss Sonia and I - and everybody at school is looking forward to having you all back in the classroom so we can be a Year 6 classroom family again.

I am so proud of you all for your resilience, your effort and your general awesomeness. Have a wonderful weekend everyone, and I'll see you all on Monday morning.

Today's timetable looks like this:

English

Today we will be looking at  an extract from a book called Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief is written in the first person and is narrated by Percy Jackson, a twelve-year-old boy diagnosed with dyslexia and ADHD. While on a school trip to a museum, strange things begin to happen, and Percy learns that he is a demigod – the son of a human and a Greek god.

Click the BBC Bitesize link and watch actor and TV presenter Stephen Fry read 2 extracts from the book.

There are 2 extracts to read and then 3 activities to complete:

Activity 1 - looking for techniques the author has used

Activity 2 - summarising what is happening in the text

Activity 3 - writing about your impressions and opinions of characters
