Look through the PPT all about WBD and find out what it is and why it is so important.

Next do 'The Masked Reader' PPT activity.

You need to work through the clues and find out who each person is and what book they are reading.

Next, here is a WBD wordsearch you could do.

10:00 - 10:30 - English - Writing

Learning Objective: To be able to verbs and question marks.

Learning Chunk 1 - In this chunk we are going to be using sounds in our sentence.

Look at the picture of the London Underground.

Listen to these underground trains as they speed away from the station.

London Underground Jubilee Line: That Noise! 18 February 2020

Everyone loves the noise the London Underground Jubilee Line 1996 Stock trains make as they accelerate away from stations. So here it is with several trains ...

Gather a list of sound words for the trains: screeching, squeaking, rattling, clattering, zooming, jolting, trundling....

Here is my sentence: The Queen could hear the clattering of a tube train.

You could deepen the moment by adding more information - where could she hear the trains, what were they doing?

Learning Chunk 2 - we are going to use repetition in this chunk.

Look at the people on the train below.

Gather a list of verbs to describe this: squashed and squeezed, pushed and pulled, squished and squashed, jostled and jolted, trampled and flattened....

Here is my sentence: All the guards tried to help but they were trampled and flattened.

You could deepen the moment by adding more information about what happens to the guards.

Learning Chunk 3

We are going to use inner thought here to describe what the Queen might be thinking.

What do you think she would be thinking now? Gather some ideas:

Where is my hat? I hope I find my hat? How can I find my hat? Will I ever see my hat again?

Here is my sentence: Meanwhile, the Queen wondered, "Where is my hat?"
