Monday 25th January 2021 English

Sentence 1 -  we are going to use a fronted adverbial to describe the animals looking at the sun.

Gather words for looking: peering, glancing, staring...

Gather adjectives to describe the sun - glowing, warm, setting, shimmering...

Gather words for 'thought' - pondered, wondered, considered, contemplated, reflected...

Here is my sentence: Staring at the distant sun, the animals thought...

Sentence 2 - We are now going to think about the different animals and some of the things they might be thinking about the journey they have been told about.

Animals - polar bear, wolf, deer, owl, goat, walrus, crow, owl.

Think about what they might be thinking or feeling about this dangerous journey they've just been told about.

Listen to the music below and imagine you are one of the animals. What are you thinking?

Here is my first inner thought and it is for the deer: 'I hope it's not me that has to go on this perilous journey,' thought the deer.

Sentence 3 -  More inner thought and this time we are going to try and use a question mark and an exclamation mark.

What other thoughts might the different animals have?

Will I? Have I? Can I? I will! I can! etc...

Here are my inner thoughts for the walrus and the hare: 'It's going to be a long, long way? Will I make it?' the walrus wondered. The brave hare thought, 'How exciting! I can do it! I can do it!'
