SEND

At St. Richard's we believe that all children deserve access to effective teaching and learning, academically, socially and spiritually. We always take individuals needs into account when planning the curriculum and adapt the approach that we take in the light of each new challenge. Our pupil-centred approach to all aspects of school life ensures that all our pupils are well prepared to make the most of what life has to offer, both at school and in later life.

Our six school values, which are central to all the work that we do -  love, respect, honesty, kindness, forgiveness and hope - express the rights and responsibilities that we champion for ALL our children, regardless of any specific barriers they may experience to their learning.

We have a dedicated and hardworking staffing team, striving to ensure that all children get the most out of their time at school. They work closely with parents, helping the children to make good progress - whatever their starting points.

Sensory corridor

We have been working hard during the summer of 2022 to refresh and update our sensory corridor! It now has an 'under the sea' theme and will continue to have things added, including decorations made by the children. We wanted to create an amazing environment where the children can feel calm, release any anxieties where they can then return to the classroom ready for learning. As well as objects to tap, jump on and feel there is coloured lighting, calming music playing at all times, and the smell of lavender floating around the corridor making a calm and enjoyable place to be.
