Year 4 - Week 6 - Lesson 3 - Fractions of quantities

This is "Year 4 - Week 6 - Lesson 3 - Fractions of quantities" by White Rose Maths on Vimeo, the home for high quality videos and the people who love them.

Here are some more comprehension questions for you to answer. Read the text carefully and answer the questions. I am looking for very neat, tidy handwriting today!

1) Why do you think the title of the story is called: The Impossibly Possible Bookshop?
2) Do you think Sammy is adventurous? Explain your answer.
3) When Sammy returns to the bookshop and meets his Grandmama, it seems as though no time has passed at all. Why do you think this is?
4) At the end of the story, Sammy’s Grandmama says: “We’ll see … anything is possible.” Why do you think she says this?

Afternoon Lesson

One fact

We know that you are all great at learning new things. Why not learn one fact about the Caribbean and share it with your family. Many passengers on the Windrush were from Jamaica. Can you find out a fact about Jamaica eg What is the national bird? What is the weather like? Or what their flag looks like?

Our world

Using google maps, a globe or a picture of the world. Where are we on the map? What country do we live in? Can you find the Caribbean? Have you heard of any islands in the Caribbean?
