9:00 - 9:15 Number Bond Challenge

 

Number bonds are numbers that total the same amount.

 

Find all number bonds to 7.

 

0 + _ = 7,        1 + _ = 7,        2 + _ = 7,        3 + _ = 7,        

 

4 + _ = 7,        5 + _ = 7,        6 + _ = 7,        7 + _ = 7

Learn the number bonds for 7. Number bonds are simply the pairs of numbers that make up a given number.

9:15 - 9:30 Handwriting Practise

 

Practise writing the lowercase and uppercase ‘x / X’

 

You need to try to write on the line whilst using lead-ins and lead-outs. You don’t need lead-ins and lead-outs for capital letters.

10:45 - 11:15 Phonics

 

Today we will be exploring the 'air' Tricky Witch trigraph.

 

Please read through the input powerpoint.

 

Afterwards, you may watch the ‘Hairylocks and the Three Bears video below.

 

I would like the children to practise their blending skills by reading 'air' Tricky Witch nonsense words using the flashcards (see below).

 

Then, I would like the children to practise their segmenting skills by spelling 'air' Tricky Witch real words 

which their parent/carer says out loud (see flashcards below). 

 

Extra Challenge:

Write sentences including at least one of the 'air' Tricky Witch words. Remember to use a capital letter at the beginning and a full stop at the end. 

 

Plenary

Practise reading and spelling high frequency words using the flashcards or powerpoint.

These are words which we use a lot in our reading and writing.

LO: To be able to reflect on internet safety.

 

Please read the ‘Detective Digiduck’ story (at the top of this page) if you haven’t done so already.

Then, read through the Internet ‘Safety Day – input’ powerpoint.

 

Main Activity:

Create an eye-catching poster based on one of the SMART rules (see last page of PowerPoint and poster examples).

Include commands which are orders that you give to other people.

e.g. You shouldn’t trust everything you see on the internet. You must keep your personal information safe.

Include large and clear text.

Include pictures which represent the rules.

 

 

Extra Support Activity:

Parents to write an internet safety rule that the children want to show on their poster. Child draws pictures on their poster to represent this rule. 

 

Extra Challenge Activity:

Create an eye-catching poster that shows all of the SMART internet safety rules

Include pictures, text and commands as outlined in the Main Activity.

13:30 – 14:15  Art  (continue after Show and Tell meeting)

LO: To be able to explore cool (cold) colours in Art.

 

Read the ‘Warm and Cool Colours’ PowerPoint and Read the 2nd part of ‘Katie and the British Artists’ (see below).

 

Whilst exploring ‘Rain, Steam and Speed’ by J.M.W. Turner, you will notice the use of cool colours (blue) to represent the rainy weather. There are also some warm colours (yellow) to show the rays of sun poking through the rain clouds. 

 

Activity:

Use cool (cold) colours to create a picture of a rainy day (see below example by Katie).

Use paint, pastels, crayon or colouring pencils. 

 

Extra Support Activity:

Parents can draw a simple picture of a rainy landscape whilst children focus on using cool (cold) colours to represent the weather.

 

Extra Challenge Activity:

Complete the main activity and and include a contrasting warm colour to show the rays of sun poking through the rain clouds.

You may also include a train passing through the rain.
