Latest update re Coronavirus
Dear Parent and Carers,
No doubt you will all be aware and concerned about the developing situation regarding COVID-19. Today, following discussions with other local schools, we have taken the local decision to ease the pressure on the school community and lessen the risk as much as is within our authority to do.
The following measures are being implemented with immediate effect: - 1. Do not send your children to school if they are showing any symptoms associated with this virus (high temperature, persistent cough or breathing difficulties). Please ensure that you contact the School Office to inform us of your child’s absence.
2. Hygiene within the school remains of paramount importance; the children are supervised throughout the day with thorough handwashing as per government guidelines.
3. All activities which involve large groups coming together have been cancelled (Assemblies, Masses, Parents' Evening appointments, Collaboration events with other schools and all other non-essential meetings). We will be in touch regarding anything that can be rescheduled in the months ahead. Please feel free to contact the school via email or telephone to discuss any concerns you have regarding your child.
4. All non-essential visitors to school are being kept to a minimum; therefore, volunteers will not be required during this period. During these period pupils in Year R and Year 1 will be greeted in the morning and dismissed in the afternoon from the relevant doors by a member of staff. Parents and Carers will not be permitted to enter the classroom for the foreseeable future.
5. All school trips and sports events have been postponed and will be rebooked following Government advise. 6. In the event that the school is closed, teachers will be ensuring work activities for home are available. With this in mind, please can you contact the school office if you DO NOT have access to the internet and school website.
Further details will be sent when appropriate via website, app message and email. We are keeping up to date with the evolving situation across the country - and indeed the world. We are very much keeping the vulnerable and worst affected communities in our prayers. In the first instance, if you have any queries during this particularly busy time, we would ask that your first check the website, the app and your email before phoning the school office. We thank you for your continued support during this unsettling time.
