SEND - Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
Many children during their school life encounter difficulties either of a general nature or with one or more specific areas of the curriculum. We aim to identify these children as early as we can and provide support to assist them in overcoming barriers to success.
These difficulties are often termed Special Needs or Additional Educational Needs. The nature of these problems covers a wide spectrum, including handwriting, spelling, reading, specific areas of mathematics, social and communication difficulties, concentration and physical disabilities. They may be temporary or longer term. Mrs Pursey is our School’s Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo). She responds to information provided by parents, teachers, children and various outside agencies including health professionals and organise appropriate support and provision to ensure that they reach their potential. If you have any information that you consider relevant, please arrange to meet with Mrs Pursey or Mr Blomfield. We will always maintain communication with parents and carers when additional support or arrangements are being considered for your child.
