School meals are now provided by Chartwell's as part of and are served on the premises. See the Term 4 menu below.
The cost of a school meal is £2.30 per day - £11.50 per week. Dinner money for the whole week should be brought on the first day of the school week and payment may be made by cash or cheque only. Dinner money should be sent to child’s class teacher in a sealed envelope with his/her name on it. Children in KS1 are entitled to funded school meals.
All meals are taken in the school hall, served by Catering Assistants. There are also Midday Supervisors on duty. The midday meal is considered to be part of the children’s social training.
Children may bring their own lunch. We encourage parents to ensure that packed lunches are healthy and wholesome. Glass containers or canned drinks are not permitted for safety reasons. Any wrappers or remains must be taken home at the end of the school day.
The children are encouraged to bring a water bottle into class daily so fresh water is always available. We know that water stimulates concentration throughout the day!
The school is currently operating a Breakfast Club. The children attending pay for the breakfast in advance or on the day but separate from payments for school lunchtime meals. The food provided meets the standard and quality required under the DCFS guidance for nutritional standards and is charged at £1.70 per day.
The school will provide an item of fresh fruit daily to all children in Reception, Year 1 and 2. Children in Years 3,4,5,6 are provided with a small snack each day during nurture time paid for out of Pupil Premium Funding. During this time children will learn about current affairs or talk about issues of concern to them.
